I got this authentic recipe years ago at an Indian food restaurant in New Orleans. You can buy the ingredients at most health food stores. Go ahead and spend the money because you'll want to make it again and it will still be cheaper than frequenting Starbuck's for their version.3 cinnamon sticks
4 cloves
4 whole cardamom
2 tea bags
36 oz (4 ½ cups) cold water
12 oz (1 ½ cups) milk
sugar to taste (about 3/8 cup)
Add sugar and spices to cold water. Bring to a boil. Add tea when water is yellow. Boil for 60 seconds. Add milk and return to a boil. Strain and serve. Makes about 4 cups.
